Jonas and I have worked together 1.5 years ago and he came to Munich for a visit – and another shoot.
It has been so much fun and at the same time incredible to see the physical transformation he went through in this short period of time.
If you want to see more photos of our session, head over to the nude and headshot section of my website.
One thing I’d like to talk about, is the “new” light I have used during this shoot. Many of you have noticed and loved the triangular catch lights in his eyes and I briefly wanted to let you know, how I did this.
It’s is basically a DIY light for under 50 Euros and everybody can build it. I took three boards of 1 meter each (the thickness and width don’t really matter) and bolted them together with some straight metal fittings. I also bought a spray-can of black color and coated them evenly (if you use brighter wood, the reflection could reveal the boards and I didn’t want that). I then bought led tube lights on Amazon (check out this link) and mounted them onto the boards. After some soldering and interconnecting the lights, I had my very own – very unique – ring light. The result can be seen on the photo in the video: it creates an even and very pleasing, smooth light (daylight color temperature) and the catch lights are just amazing! If you have any questions about this project, let me know in the comment box below.
