I’ve clearly underestimated San Francisco for a long time because Los Angeles has always been more in my center of attention being the beautiful beach and party destination it is.
After spending some time and reading into some online articles on travel websites, I decided to dig a little deeper and to give San Francisco a chance. After my last couple of visits, I must say that I’m impressed by the beauty of the city and the surroundings and the variety of activities you can do there – even if swimming in the ocean for me clearly isn’t one of them because I hate cold water.
The last visit was a really amazing one because some friends and I rented bikes and went on a ride over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito spending the day in the saddle, stopping from time to time to take in the stunning views and just enjoying ourselves and the beautiful weather. After a delicious lunch at Napa Valley Burgers in Sausalito and a nice coffee at the promenade, we headed back towards the Bay and rode to Baker Beach, spending the rest of the afternoon at the beach waiting for sunset and the bridge lights to come on. What a spectacular view we had. The only downside of it was, that our bikes didn’t have any lights…I got inventive and used my iPhone’s LED light to guide us back home. I know – it’s not the safest way to do it and kids – don’t try this at home – but who knew it would get dark so very quickly. I have to admit, that the views at the beach were simply too nice to drive away in time before dark.
Anyhow – it was yet another perfect day in a beautiful city I am really starting to dig.
